"Here is the pic of our recently acquired 300GD. We have not made very long trips yet but we are planning to as we get to know our vehicle. Our G is 1983 and was owned by the Argentinean Gendarmery (border police) and we bought it 7 months ago. Its previous owner have upgraded its original 240GD engine to a 300GD. The vehicle is a cabriolet and it had fitted a tailor made fiberglass hard top. These vehicles are very rare in Argentina."

Matthew owns a really rare G, especially in Australia: a long 300 GD with soft top and folding-windscreen. It was one of three G's sold to the Australian army for testing. After that it was sold, and now he uses his G for geological fieldwork.

Steve owns several offroaders, but the best for trips through Australia's outback is of course 300 GD which have 60mm longer springs and is fitted with 35.5" MTs. A snorkel is also build in so he don't have to worry if the water is deeper some times.

Thorsten Holz

Thorsten's both Gs are not build for onroad-use. In 1999 he transformed an 1980 280GE into an 500GE. When he sold this G, he bought an already build up 300GE with 35" wheels, ARB-Bullbar, winch, bodylift and longer springs. Then he build in an 3.6 Brabus engine, a rollcage, tripmaster, additional fueltank and other useful Rally-equipment. In autumn 2001 he bought an additonal 230GE convertible and build it up within one month with a 5liter V8 with automatic-transmission, bodylift, Eibach-springs, Warn-winch and 285/75R16 MTs on 8x16" alloys. The V8-conversion have been done without expencive AMG-parts. Most parts where kept or build by themselfs.
